K-VPN

K-VPN is a Virtual Private Network application. This program will allow the user to connect to a secured network server, and access the resources in that particular server’s LAN. This is usually invaluable for telecommuters that work from home. They will connect to the company’s LAN using a VPN. Any computer running K: Network will support VPN connections, so even a home server can work. For business uses, one could connect to company databases, and access corporate files that should not leave the property of the business. This will be why a VPN will be so important.

For the home use, a VPN can connect a computer to a home network, and therefore to the home’s K: NAS, or K: Vault servers. This will allow the computer to properly backup, access rarely needed files, and watch videos from the home’s video library. And since all premises will have at least 1 static IP address, this means it will be much easier to connect to the home network. A premise can acquire additional IPv6 addresses if needed, but likely at an extra cost from the ISP.
