K-Shredder is the file deletion tool within Kal-OS. This is done with military grade deletions since many customers would be military, and government. This capability is sent down to the general consumer level as well. When a file is deleted, 0s will be written over the deleted sector(s) a few times – therefore eliminating the file from ever being recovered. While this may seem like overkill for the general consumer, KCI believes that everyone has a right to privacy.
Even though a file is deleted, it does not mean that previous backups are deleted as well. If the back up location is not secured, then access the file before it was deleted and destroyed will still be recoverable. Therefore, backups should be properly encrypted to assure that unauthorized people do not get to see your files.
