Kal-BackUp is a back-up service for Kal-OS devices. Kal-Backup is available for $250/year, and will backup the drives within your computer, and handhelds. While many services will charge you by the TB?, or worse – by the GB?, Kal-BackUp will do something different. It is intended to offer a backup solution for anyone with a KCI computer, and therefore reduce the need for an external backup drive which might otherwise be too inconvenient when using a notebook PC. For those with a K Series computer, the external back-up drive might be unrealistic as it usually intended for call centers, libraries, and government entities. Kal-BackUp will just back up the files as long as there is an active internet connection.
For those with cellular connectivity, the owner can opt to not backup when on cellular. This might be especially important for those outside of Kaldus, and may have a limited data plan for their cellular carrier. When that is applied, then backup will only happen on Wifi. Notebook PCs also benefit as they don’t need to have a hard drive dangling from a USB-C port.
Kal-Drive is different than Kal-BackUp. With Kal-Drive, all of the computers can access the same online storage system from any device. This is similar to how DropBox, or iCloud will work. One could theoretically use Kal-Drive as a personal files drive that syncs with every device that has the credentials. This will make it more versatile than using a secondary drive and have to transfer files from one system to another. Since Kal-Drive is already backed up, Kal-BackUp will not backup this resource.
Kal-Backup is designed to backup all of the operator’s devices, and therefore offer a resolution to restore the files if something bad happens to the system such as a malware attack. Kal-Backup will not allow manipulation of previous backup files – therefore saving a backup that will not be affected by ransomware. You would just instal from the backup before the malware incident.
