K-Text

K-Text is a simple text editor that supports syntaxing for web development, but otherwise, intended to create simple and basic .txt files. .txt files are a single format text with no formatting. K-Tex also has a word and character count. This allows someone to create a text file that meets in certain requirements such as an ad. This could also be used when you want to eliminate formatting on text. You copy the text, and paste it into K-Text. After that, you copy what’s on K-Text, and that will eliminate any formatting that you would otherwise don’t want.

There is also the .rtf format, but this was around before modern word processors became capable enough. If the author needs to create an .rtf file – they can use K-Office > Writer, and be sure to save as .rtf. There is no need to have a dedicated .rtf editor when K-Office > Writer will work just as well, and support a wide range of other files.
